Weather in the Cayman Islands is fabulous for holiday travelers, but the heat and humidity can be tough on those of us who live and work here. Nailing down a smooth and polished look for your hair can be especially challenging! Even gals with just a hint of curl will find themselves with annoying frizz, here in the tropics. Loading up on tons of heavy products or beating on your poor locks with hot irons or blow dryers won’t work in the long run, either. There is a solution that will give you runway-perfect hair, every day, and with mimimal fuss: Global Keratin Treatment. It’s a salon treatment, available only at The Salon, on West Bay Road. Ask for Joe Cowin. Joe’s a world-class expert in color, cut, highlights, and fashion colors, and she also specializes in the keratin smoothing treatment. She’s been doing hair for 21 years, with recent specialized training in Europe.

The keratin treatment takes a few hours, but it’s SO worth it. It lasts about 3-4 months.  You’ll be left with the most amazing, shiny, smooth, gorgeous hair you can imagine. (Check out the “before and after” pics of Joe’s recent Keratin client!) The only danger with the Global Keratin Treatment is that once you’ve had it, you’ll be so hooked, you’ll never want to be without it again. The cost for the treatment starts at CI $275.00, depending on the length and thickness of your hair, and this includes Global Keratin shampoo and conditioner to take home.  It’s totally worth it, when you factor in the money saved on styling products, and the time you’ll save on blow drying. It’s also so much better for your hair, since it cuts down on how much heat your hair is exposed to each day.

Even if you don’t get the Global Keratin, schedule an appointment with Joe for the most amazing color or cut you can possibly imagine. Getting married soon? She’s got the hottest wedding looks for you and your wedding party.

Joe is responsible for some of the most glamorous hairstyles in Cayman. Join the elite club of “Joe’s Girls”, and start looking as fabulous as you possibly can. Joe: 345-943-4247

My Mom and I are known in our family as marathon “phone chatters”. We call back and forth daily, gabbing about what’s on HGTV, what’s for dinner, the latest New York Times article, or whatever! I treasure the long distance relationship, but not the high cost of keeping in touch, especially for my US family.  International friends and family have always complained about the high cost of calling us here in the Cayman Islands.

The sky-high phone bills and the communications issues are now a distant memory, since Logic introduced “Chatterbox!” It’s the new phone service that gives you UNLIMITED international calling, for one low monthly charge! All you need is a high speed Internet connection.  Visit www.logic.ky/chatterbox to choose a rockin’ rate plan that suits you. There is no waiting for a technician to install your service either; it’s super easy to install. If I can install it in 5 minutes, anyone can!

You can also choose a Chatterbox International Number, which for us, means having an inbound US number, for only CI $7.95 per month. For my US friends and family, they ring me on a local US number, instead of a Cayman Islands number. Brilliant! Visit www.logic.ky/chatterbox to choose a Chatterbox International Number from over 50 countries,  for the same low monthly rate: just CI $7.95.

Chatterbox is the perfect solution for small businesses, too. Great handsets, & unbeatable rates !  Don’t forget to get your Chatterbox International Numbers, to make it easy & affordable for your global clients to stay in touch with you.

I’m all set up for chatting as often as I like now. I even take “Mr. Chatty” with me when I travel internationally, since it’s a snap to set up, as long as I have access to a high speed Internet connection. My Global rate plan travels with me. Instead of getting socked with crazy roaming costs, I can call back to Cayman from anywhere in the world for just 2.5 cents per minute!

Whats holding you back? Get chatting too! www.logic.ky/chatterbox

The Cayman Conspiracy

The Cayman Conspiracy

Join Local Author David Shibli tonight, Friday August 19th, at 7:00PM, at Books and Books, for the launch of his debut novel. The Cayman Conspiracy, a thrilling adventure that links the high stakes world of casino gambling with the laid-back Cayman Islands.

This event is free to the public and will include a book discussion and signing.

The book is set in 1989 and Joe LeRice, a British expat, has it all: the stunning wife, a successful business, and a peaceful life in the idyllic Cayman Islands. As he enjoys the fruits of his labor, he is troubled to learn that the world of casino gambling has cast a shadow on the country he now calls home. A consortium from Las Vegas visits Grand Cayman, where gambling is illegal, and Joe observes as the wheels of politics, lubricated by lust and cash, threaten to turn this tranquil place into yet another gambling Mecca.

After witnessing the suicide attempt of a close family member who is involved in negotiations with the consortium, Joe suspects that they are ruthlessly determined to have their way at any cost. He heads to Vegas in a desperate attempt to hamper their effort and on the way meets young Bobby, a streetwise hooker whos toughness becomes invaluable to Joe’s mission as he comes face to face with demons that almost destroyed him as a young man.

The author, David Shibli, was born in Tristan da Cunha, a remote volcanic group of Islands in the South Atlantic Ocean, to a doctor and a nurse, in 1965. He has lived a fascinating life that has included attending boarding school in the UK, earning an Engineering degree with first class honours at the University of Bradford, and he has enjoyed a long and succesful career in IT. However, David’s true passion has always been writing.

Drink Fresh Juice!

Posted by admin

Green Veg Juice

Green Veg Juice

How are we supposed to consume the recommended 5-10 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables every single day, with the busy lives that we all lead? How about this as a solution: fresh, delicious juice, delivered to you ! All you have to do is stick your straw into a glass of luscious just-squeezed fresh juice, and drink up your vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Drink Fresh Juice is an innovative natural juice experience. They make all natural fruit and veggie juices, delivered island wide to offices, schools, gyms, and private homes.

The signature drink is Green Veg: Callaloo, Cucumber, Celery, Apple, Lemon, and Ginger. The callaloo is freshly cut from the ground each day, and the quality is sensational! If you have not tried green juice, be brave and TRY IT! (Don’t just smell it, stare it at it, or snicker at it; just go ahead and TASTE IT! C’mon!) It’s amazing, with wonderful benefits. I started off with drinking it three times a week, and found that my energy level was so much higher on the days I was drinking the green juice that I am now drinking it 5 days a week! It’s ADDICTIVE! However, If you can’t get your mind around green juice just yet, don’t worry! Drink Fresh Juice has many other beautiful flavors to choose from that aren’t green (LOL) like Apple, Carrot & Beet, or Fruit Blend which is a beautiful mix of Pineapple, Pear, Cantaloupe, Pear and Ginger. Traditional folks can choose fresh squeezed orange juice, which will put “Tropicana-juice-from-the-carton” to shame. If your office/church/team would like to arrange for a tasting, please contact Drink Fresh Juice ASAP to set one up! Just don’t be surprised if you end up “Going Green”…Green Juice is the top seller for a reason!

The company is not even a year old, and so far the response has been very positive. The clientele is mostly corporate. The goal of the owners is to provide a natural, effective & convenient way to consume healthy nutrients, to everyone in Cayman..especially children! They also want to educate their clients about the benefits of FRESH juices. They are sharing healthy living information via their website, facebook fan page, Twitter, business cards, etc. (The word is getting out fast, since I have had a dozen or so recommendations to write them up on my blog, from happy clients.)

This wonderful juice is only $5.00 per glass. That’s a BARGAIN. Especially considering that the price is including delivery! I can’t make my own juice for $5.00 per glass. If you have ever made your own juice, you know it takes a ton of produce to get just one glass of juice. And if you’ve ever pumped gas in Cayman, you know how expensive fuel is!  If you think $5.00 a day is not worth it, think of all the other ways we spend 5 bucks. Lattes, coffees, fast foods, cocktails, etc. A glass of vitamin & mineral packed FRESH juice is very affordable, and good ”bang for your buck”, nutritionally. We’re WORTH IT!
