La Mer Spa
A full hour of massage is one of life’s greatest luxuries. A two hour massage is twice the fun and relaxation. It’s important to choose your massage therapist carefully when a two hour investment of your precious time is involved. Nothing is worse than a ho-hum massage, especially for an extended session. No chance of that with Lynda Young, one of the most talented massage professionals in the Cayman Islands. Lynda practices at La Mer Spa, located in the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort on Seven Mile Beach. Lynda has been in Grand Cayman for five years, and owes her success and large clientele following to her commitment to excellence. Lynda practices Swedish, deep tissue, and hot stone massage. She is a structural integration practitioner, and works with massage technique to relieve chronic tension and pain through improved alignment and posture.
Lynda has chosen an ideal spa environment as her workplace. La Mer Spa is a full service spa located at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort. The soothing, natural spa has high ceilings, beautiful Caribbean artwork, and is decorated with rich woods and polished stone. The stresses of the day recede when you are ushered into your private treatment room, an earth-toned sanctuary scented with aromatherapy candles and essential oils. Soothing music plays softly in the background while you settle onto a comfy massage table.
My two hour session with Lynda was a luxurious experience that included a variety of techniques and left my muscles relaxed and my tensions a distant memory. Lynda is a gifted massage therapist with amazing physical strength. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Lynda is a perpetual student who is constantly learning more about her craft.

The Cracked Conch
In the Cayman Islands, the best weather of the year starts at the end of November. While North Americans bundle up in sweater and mittens, Cayman folks are spending as many evenings as possible outdoors. If you are looking for a glorious alfresco dining experience, plan an evening at The Cracked Conch in West Bay, across from the Turtle Farm. The large restaurant was completely remodeled after Hurricane Ivan with a tiki bar, a stunning upscale cocktail lounge, indoor and outdoor dining, and one of the largest patio areas in the Cayman Islands. In spite of it’s size, the Cracked Conch has a cozy, tropical vibe with tiki torches and the sound of crashing waves in the background.
The seafood is ultra fresh, and the menu is a fusion of Caribbean and international flavors. If you are feeling virtuous, a tempting healthy meal is easy to manage at Cracked Conch. Start with the Marinated Conch Salad, a divine ceviche made with fresh local conch and peppers. Fill up on the Oriental Mesclun Salad, with melt-in-your-mouth local papaya and a homemade ginger-sesame dressing. For your entree, choose the fresh caught Steamed Wahoo, a steamed mild white fish served on bed of warm ratatouille.
The Cracked Conch serves lunch, dinner and an all-day menu. The beef, pasta and vegetarian selections are just as tasty as the signature seafood dishes. The Cracked Conch is elegant enough for a special occasion, and relaxed enough for a weeknight. Visit soon and enjoy your night under the Caribbean stars.
