Champion House

Champion House

If you want to experience authentic Cayman-style dining in one of Grand Cayman’s most popular restaurants, consider a trip to Champion House II on Eastern Avenue. Ask anyone from Cayman where to go for good local food and chances are you’ll get sent to this down-home, squeaky clean eatery that packs in locals and tourists alike, 7 days a week. It was started in 1965 by Mrs. Susan Robinson in her kitchen, and over the years Champion House has become a household name in the Cayman Islands. It’s known for both the restaurant facility and the catering business.

Champion House serves Caribbean Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner daily, but it is most famous for the buffets. My family’s favorite is the Seafood Buffet.

For CI $19.95, each diner gets a huge feast!

Salad Bar Sushi, Shrimp Salad, Smoked Salmon, Crab Salad, Tuna Pie, Marinated Conch, Potato Salad

Cold Station Mussels, Clams, Snow Crab Cluster & Shrimp

Appetizers Conch Fritters, Butterfly Shrimp, Peppered Shrimp, Jerk Chicken Rolls

Sides Steam Veggies, Fried Plantains, Rice & Beans, Seafood Fried Rice

Meats Crab Cakes, Seafood Pasta, Jerked Chicken, Jerked Pork, Blackened Mahi, Grilled Snapper, Turtle Stew, Conch Stew

Desserts

For more information about this wonderful spot, visit http://www.championhousecayman.com/

The Seafood Buffet at Champion House is Everyday 5PM-10PM

Atlantis By Night

Underwater Paradise

Underwater Paradise

You don’t have to be a scuba diver to see the incredible word that exists underneath the sea. You can explore down to 100 feet in an actual submarine with Atlantis Adventures. Don’t be nervous! The folks are Atlantis are world-wide pros and have helped 12 million people share the undersea Marine experience. They operate in Hawaii, The Caribbean and Guam in nine locations and have been in business for over 23 years.

The Atlantis XI Submarine is a technological marvel designed for underwater sightseeing excursions. The spacious cabin is air conditioned and comfortable. The ride is smooth, and the clarity of Grand Cayman’s magnificent waters will amaze you as you explore the Marine Park to depths of 100 feet.

Atlantis offers a number of fascinating tours on their website http://www.atlantisadventures.com/. One of the most tempting is the night time adventure tour “Adventure By Night“. This special tour is offered only on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The party starts at night for the coral reef, and you never know who might show up: lobster, eel, stingray, even turtles. The powerful lights of the Atlantis will illuminate shimmering tarpon, snapper and tropical fish. The highly skilled pilot at the helm of the Atlantis will reveal to you a panorama of vistas, and the co-pilot and guide will provide you with a wealth of knowledge and narration. Large view ports allow everyone a chance to the exciting marine life and coral reefs. The tour lasts an hour and 30 minutes, and begins and ends at the Atlantis Dock, located next to the cruise ship tender downtown. It’s a spectacular, once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Cayman Pet Paradise

Training

Training

Attention Cayman pet owners: the best place in the Cayman Islands for your treasured family pet is Cayman Pet Paradise. In business for over 30 years, Cayman Pet Paradise provides fantastic boarding services for dogs, cats and family pets as well as exercise, training and grooming on three acres of grounds. They even offer “doggy day care” for those of us who work long hours and want to treat our pampered pooches to some TLC while we’re at the office!

For more challenging pets, Cayman Pet Paradise works closely with expert trainer Kenneth Morgan, who provides training on secure grounds for pets with a wide variety of behavioral problems. Dogs with milder issues have great success with Trainer/Groomer Alison Jackson, who also conducts training sessions at Cayman Pet Paradise. Sessions can be arranged while pets are being boarded, or day sessions can be scheduled depending on the needs of the pet. I can personally attest to Alison’s skills when it comes to helping socialize skittish or shy pets. She has helped our Toy Fox Terrier overcome social anxieties. Beano was rescued from a puppy mill, and Alison’s training sessions have helped him immensely.

Cayman has no “dog parks”, so it’s great to know that for condo dwellers with dogs, you can arrange to exercise your pets in a large, fenced-in area for only $5.00 for 30 minutes. It’s a well maintained area set up for agility training, with water and a dog house. There is even a comfy bench in the shade for owners.

We have worked with Cayman Pet Paradise for years and can’t say enough wonderful things about them; they are like family! When we pull up to the ranch, our dogs jump out of the car, tails wagging, looking for Alison, Manager Teresa Strad or any of the other friendly folks that work at Cayman Pet Paradise. It’s a relief to know that our pets are in good hands when we travel.

Do call well in advance for public holidays. Cayman Pet Paradise one hot ticket, especially for Easter, Christmas/New Years, and all the Cayman Islands Holidays.

Fun and Flirty Dresses

Fun and Flirty Dresses

Here in the Caribbean, the cooler weather will soon give way to hot and sunny days and warm nights. Wardrobes need to be strappy (not skimpy) and flexible. Transitional outfits need to move from beach to beach bar to dinner to dancing-under-the-stars. What’s a girl to do? Easy! Stop in to Funky Monkey, Grand Cayman’s chicest boutique. Owner Jodi Hunter has just the thing to get you from a-z without stopping at home to change. Her sexy-funky-cool-collection of activewear, beach wear and sexy dresses are great for the Cayman casual lifestyle and more importantly, Jodi combs the world for fabrics that breathe and hold up well in hot tropical weather. The latest “must-haves collection”  from Funky Monkey is from M. Rena: a line of one-size knit wear from LA that includes dresses, tops and leggings. It wears likes cashmere and has just the right body skimming fit. Prices start at just $28 CI. It’s the perfect collection for layering throughout a Cayman “play day”. Wear the dress in the morning as a bikini cover up. For happy hour, add a chunky necklace and wedge heels. For dinner and late night dancing, add leggings, glam make up and strappy heels.

Get it all at Funky Monkey! Stop in soon. Jodi’s collections are hot-hot-hot and they often sell out quickly.
