Reefathlon

Reefathlon

Cayman cycling enthusiasts already know about the upcoming event at The Reef Resort that combines cycling, relaxing, and meeting new friends: “Reefathlon” at the Reef Resort is taking place on Sunday, November 22nd, 2009. Anyone looking for a tremendous way to get in some exercise and relaxation will enjoy this event.

The folks at the Reef resort have created their own version of a triathlon that includes cycling, and replaces “swim” and “run” with “snorkel” and “leisurely stroll around the beach”. (We like the way the Reef thinks!) There has been recent resurfacing of roads in the vicinity of the Reef resort, so there are first class class roads, perfect weather, and no traffic. Perfect conditions for cyclists!

Cycling

For anyone that decides to make a weekend out of it, rest assured that you are in for a treat. Reef takes relaxation to a whole new level in the Cayman Islands, and the staff at The Reef will ensure that your stay there will be an absolutely ideal break from the hustle and bustle of the typical Seven Mile Beach vacation. The Reef takes the racing end of it very seriously, however. The race manager, Craig Merren, is a three time Olympic cyclist and the first Caymanian cyclist to win Gold and Silver medal at the CARIFTA games.

The 19 minute time trial starts at 7:00 AM on the day of the event, which is Sunday, November 22nd, 2009. There is a chance to win $1,000 for the person who breaks the course record! For more information about the event, visit http://www.reefathlon.com/.

Barefoot Elegance

The Southern Cross Club

The Southern Cross Club

If the hustle and bustle of Grand Cayman is too much for you, consider a trip to the Sister Islands. Located 80 miles northeast of Grand Cayman, this beautiful island is just a short flight away from the “big island” but worlds away in terms of its laid-back attitude and old-world Caribbean charm. All three of the Cayman Islands Islands are wonderful in their own special way, and Little Cayman has a fan club that stretches across the globe. If you are considering a trip to Little Cayman, one of the nicest resorts on the island is Southern Cross Club.

Southern Cross Club was founded in 1958 when Little Cayman had just 12 residents. The current population is just over 100. If your dream vacation includes world class diving, fishing. peace and relaxation, few places in the world can compare with the charm, hospitality and comfort of the Southern Cross Club.

The casually sophisticated Southern Cross Club, Fish & Dive Resort is Little Cayman’s oldest original resort, offering a top rated, professional in-house diving and fishing operation. The Southern Cross Club has a non-traditional layout featuring 12 spacious ocean-view beachfront bungalows. Sound heavenly, doesn’t it?

Little Cayman continues to be one of the least developed, safest and easily accessible tropical islands in the Western hemisphere. The wide variety of marine life, the proximity of its dramatic warm water,  and the pristine barrier reefs make this destination extremely desirable. Diving Little Cayman’s Bloody Bay Wall is a journey into of the healthiest, most accessible reef environments in the world.

The Southern Cross Club is a haven for divers, fisherman, sunbathers, honeymooners, families, and anyone seeking relaxation and natural beauty. Many of the guests are repeat customers who have become friends, and often describe Southern Cross Club’s environment as “barefoot elegance”. For more information, visit http://www.southerncrossclub.com/littlecayman.html.
